Grabner plays in Austrian league

Michael Grabner suited up with his former team, EC VSV of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (highest level of competition in Austria), this past weekend in VSV’s pre-season opener. Despite several scoring chances, Grabner was not a factor on the scoresheet as VSV tied HK Jesenice 4-4.

Canucks fans should not worry, however, as Grabner was only in the lineup because VSV forward Jonathan Ferland was unavaible due to the birth of his child. Additionally, VSV plays in Villach, Austria, Grabner’s hometown, and the Canucks prospect has been training with the team for most of the summer. Grabner will travel to Vancouver towards the beginning of September with the hopes of earning a spot on the Canucks roster.
